Environmental hazard assessment

BioForMoz implements research on environmental pollution through training and research grants, in order to develop specific skills for the Mozambican institutions dedicated to these activities. The following research lines are included in the scholarships for Master’s thesis:

  1. Molecular identification and resistance profile of Vibrio cholerae from aquatic environments in endemic areas in Sofala Province after cyclone Idai.
  The following research lines are granted by research fellowships:

  1. Environmental microbiology: Genomic evolution of Vibrio cholerae in the aquatic environment in areas affected by the IDAI cyclone in Moçambique.
  2. Environmental pollution: Assessment of emerging contaminants in the Umbeluzi River: their occurrence and effects on fish.
  3. Use of biomarkers as a biomonitoring tool for environmental pollution by pesticides: Umbeluzi River case study.
  4. Molecular Characterization and Mycotoxin Profile of Toxigenic Fungi Isolated from Maize and Peanut in South region of Mozambique.
